the finality of it all...

31st has always been like the end page of the book. As the story ends and you reflect on all that happened in it. the lagging first half ,the climax of the middle and a weird conclusion in the end. A good book would make you want to re-read the good parts or may be make you think of the a sequel or perhaps search for a more deeper meaning..
31st nights have always been the recap of the whole year(partially cause i spend it flipping through channels of extensive glittery and shine of the bolly nos.) and my conclusions have always been "i have been bad this year" (yes, strong conscience there!)
The fun part comes when you have to decide on a new year's resolution. No matter how serious, one is about it by the 2nd of the month it shows no signs of ever having made one!
So i end up calling a few friends, texting the rest and watching the fireworks at the expense of other's pocket.A generous world indeed!

 CAUSE IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT HOPE..

HO HO HO!!!!!!

And the fat old man with beard as white as snow zooms through swishing and flying snow all the way.
" i won again you hapless carrot nose"
" me carrot.. huh! look at your's... button nose!"
"uffff... atleast watch what you are talking, you guys are on TV!! " the cameraman elf said
this Christmas thing is killing. these new age kids.. man! now i have to shoot for the reality tv. hmmffff!...

mean while in the toy factory elves were hard at work with the continuous down pour of emails sorting them, packing, labeling,  it was whole lot of work. And the gifts with naughty children were marked with a black "X" .. A sudden shout from the IT cabin followed by shouts of "i am coming! i am COMIN!!!!" by the tech maintenance guy with the thickest glasses ever seen.. the mail had crashed once again.

Going over to the old white haired elf who seemed to be as old as santa said.
"huh! it was so quite and peaceful so many letters got lost in the post. now ever single one comes! blah!!"      : may be i should edit this part :

Soon all the packed goods were being loaded in now hi-tech sledge with in built GPRS locator and power boosters. The presents seemed to be less bulky and more of slim rectangular shaped, most having ipods and tablets and laptops and xboxes. sigh! tastes keep changing.

All the elves, the toy-makers  the packers, the IT department were together standing around the huge Christmas tree with Santa and The Snowman and the reindeer something about Christmas never changes. With a booming "HO HO HO!" Santa mounted the sledge with his cousin Snowman and zoomed into the stars of north pole... little did he and others know he was being tracked by google!

she faded into the water, he drifted into smoke..a sad and a happy goodbye..

irony.. always irony! 

pujor gondho! :)

The month of October always sets my heart racing..what with pujo in the air.. the leg jingling dhaak er avaj , the bold and beautiful eyes of the protima, the mouth watering smells of moglayi and cutlets and rolls (neverending list!) the chants of the pujo, the pandal re aada, carrom, natoks, going to all the other pujos, assessing which one’s the best... relatives and their never ending rants about how old you are now! Oh, not to forget the extensive shopping spree( for all the shopaholics out there!) somehow words seem less to cumulate the “pujo feeling”. No matter what state of mind one is a bong mind would be euphoric during pujos.. even a trouble ridden rickshaw-wala would have a smiling face.. such is pujo and its effects on people.

That’s why i like India.. the fact that we have so many festivities that there is always a constant commotion.. no life goes boring and dull till the end of the year where you dance around the tree..

ganpatibappa moriya!!!!!

Believe in gods or not, one always gets a holiday which is very generous of the gods! With  september on the calender it's the beginning of two month long festivities! Starting from ganpati to durga puja clubbed with navaratri, dassera then comes diwali and bhai duj and ends knocking on the doors of exams!

But nevermind that! It's ganesh chathurti and whole of Maharashtra is in high spirits for the next 10 days, with occasional visarjans in an interval of 2-3 days (polluting the already polluted water of juhu) but its fun! college goes on a mini vacation mood.. (not that it makes much of a difference!) if it takes someones fancy you could stand in the legendary "lal bagh cha raja's" line which snakes kilometeres and often takes 4 hours to just to get darshan! But yeah, people can get crazy over here.You witness ganpati of varying sizes.. right from as small as your index finger to a 20ft tall one and it doesn't end with size, different postures of the elephant-man. Even expressions our hard to go unnoticed! And not to miss on the delicious "modaks" made on this occasion and all kind of sweets (it seems ganpati had quite a sweet tooth!) Somehow this cute trunk-man with an equally cuddle-able  mouse has captured the hearts of people since the concept of the tusker-man originated.

Mean while, let mumbai go on a gajadhar frenzy while i laze around and yes, get crushed in the crushing crowd of devotees and non-devotees and people like us who are out enjoying the spirit of festival rather than the belief!

on the occasion of good friday, one of barney's very own 3 day theory of why had jesus waited for 3 days to resurrect ... no offence intended whats so ever to any group, religion or individual! watch away.. :)

Indian culture does portray a lively and colourful way of life but does it really mean at the cost of others peace?? I thank saridon and earplugs to keep me sane enough to lock myself at home and abstain myself from the sin of being a party spoiler by tearing away the cables to the sound system and put a full stop to the insanely djed songs and the potential of the music bringing spasms of pain to all the auditory sensory organs...if anyone reads a report of a mass murder of “party maker jerky pigs” i take full responsibility of it... let the heavens decide my punishment.. but for the time being, i shall be the Hercules of the new age, who kills the sonic monsters... GOD! Make them stop before i commit an unpardonable sin!!

FINE!! I didn't know what to post for as a new year post... I am rendered speechless with too many happenings of the previous year and the general feeling of laziness of vacations.. So may be some other time when i am in a more energy-charged mood that I would give a detailed analysis of the previous year .. For now  HAPPY NEW YEAR! May the sense of a new beginning prevail over the sense of ending and move on with the happy memories of 2011 and seeking new-ones in 2012...

JINGLE JINGLE!!

Here comes Christmas with white snow and lush green Christmas trees decorated with glittery decors and candies and stars... and in tropical countries like ours white cotton is placed on trees a poor replacement of snow.. carols sung.. exchange of gifts and the flurry of activity as children like little devils they are when it comes to gifts  tear up the wrappers mercilessly and their shrieks of delight resonates through out... the fresh smell of baked cake and cookies...hmmmm

This is what i am reminded of, every time Christmas comes..  i still remember the Christmas time parties and the carols we sang.. the baking we did, and the poor Christmas tree we decorated so much that one could hardly see its branches! The anxiety of Christmas eve... “will Santa give me what i asked for? “ made me stay awake till late night in hope of asking Santa.. i smile at those memories and still there is the festive mood that dawns the Christmas time and keeps that smile all day (even if i have exams on the next day!) ..

 Hope the big guy in red suit slides down your chimney and bless you with whatever you wish for.. so keep your eyes open for you might just hear a distant “ho ho ho” as the clock strikes 12 and see an airborne sleigh gliding through the sky.....
